Meet The Chef!
A swath of silk draped down tapering layers of cake. Botanically-correct birds of paradise. A Venetian carnival mask.
These are just a few of the creations of Steven Ciccone, a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York's Hudson Valley, who travels across the United States with his scrumptious cakes & confections.
Steven’s work has won a constellation of awards from both domestic & internationally-acclaimed culinary societies, including gold medals from La Societe Des Chefs Cusiniers et Patiessiers du Quebec, Societe Culinaire Philantropique de New York & Les Amis Escoffier Societe'.
But Steven’s culinary life began at age 9 in the kitchens of his family’s skilled home cooks. The most influential were his grandparents, Chuck and Anne Cronin. Although his Grandfather had no formal culinary education, his inquisitive spirit helped guide his grandson through the maze that was the start of his professional career.
As a student at the CIA, Steven was mentored by the legendary Betty VanNorstrand in confectionery art. Under her tutelage, Steven developed the technical skills and expertise necessary to produce beautifully crafted cakes, stunning sugar flowers and intricate piping designs.
In time Steven developed a signature style. Drawing inspiration from his love of music, he creates stunning showpieces with a edgy theatricality. Sometimes the cakes even play music themselves.
Steven's dramatic style has been embraced by celebrities of music, film & television, including Whitney Houston, Adam Lambert, Gavin DeGraw & Queen Latifah. Whether the cake has elegant hand-painted 24 karat gold artwork, sugar reproductions of sheet music, or even elements of a performer’s costume, every cake is custom designed to elevate the mood at any special occasion.
It has been 20 years since Steven first picked up a pastry bag in his Grandparent's kitchen. Today, Steven shares his skills with the next generation of confectionery artists & bakers. His willingness to share knowledge has led to numerous television appearances & written tutorials for culinary magazines.
Still just in his 20’s, Steven currently resides in New York City and continues to travel the country producing spectacular cakes & passing on the skills that were so generously given to him.
